Now, I’m not like a girly-girl who wears dresses everywhere. But I do like to look at pretty dresses, and the first ladies’ are very pretty. Dress #1: Nancy Davis Reagan decided to wear a one shouldered white sheath gown of lace over silk satin. James Galanos can take the credit. Her shoes were by David Evins, and she carried a purse by Judith Leiber. Dress #2: an evening gown for Edith Bolling Wilson, worn at a private dinner party at the White House in 1915. The dress is a black satin trimmed with beads, black velvet and white net. This dress is from the House of Worth in Paris, France. Dress #3: a pink silk damask ball gown by Nettie Ronsenstein, Mamie Doud Eisenhower wore this to a 1957 state dinner. Dress #4: Dr. Jill Biden wore an ocean blue wool tweed dress designed by Alexandra O’Neill’s Makarian brand. Jill wore this with a matching mask. Dress #5 &6: another Jill Biden dress and coat with a matching mask. Dress #7: Barbara Pierce Bush work this velvet gown by Arnold Scaasi with matching purse and her trademark costume pearls. Dress #8: silk crepe off-the-shoulder with a slit skirt and a caret ribbon around the waist worn and designed by Melania Trump with Hervé Pierre. Will post more about dresses #9, #10, #11 soon!!!
